About Life According to Gribble

When I decided to construct this blog, Gribble, vintage 1980’s Lots-a Lots-a Leggggggs caterpillar who has seen better days, was the one constant thing I could look back on with childhood innocence and happiness. I struggle daily with both my physical and mental health. My recovery process of widowhood and navigating my mental health are the things that most consume my life. It affects everything and everyone around me.

With such heavy topics, Gribble was the only logical choice to host this blog. He is the representative from my childhood who inspires both comfort and peace. Gribble can take the complexity of troublesome times and break it down into basic needs, thus making the world simple and right again. He cultivates an air of positivity and light.  That is why Gribble is the star of this show.

As Gribble explained in his first post, 2015 to 2018 have been my years of pure hell. I can’t think of any other way to bring meaning to those events than using what I learned to help others heal, too. Recovery is a lifelong process. It never ends. Ask any addict or victim.

My message is that of love and camaraderie. I’m not just spouting statistical information or theories I learned in school. My posts are all based on real life experience. They come from the heart to encourage anyone recovering from widowhood (or any other tragedy for that matter) to seek a positive influence. Someone who can remind you that you are not alone. You are loved and valued. Recovery requires us to stand tall together. If I can help at least one person with this blog, it will be worth it.

I look forward to getting to know many of you from your comments and suggestions.

About Gribble Gifford

Gribble is a vintage Commonwealth Lots-a-Lots-a-Leggggggs stuffed caterpillar from the 1980’s. Keani’s mother got him for her on her 2nd or 3rd Christmas and that was that. She named him Gribble because that was the sound he made as he crawled across the floor with her loving help. Since then, any stuffed caterpillar that even remotely resembled Gribble was dubbed a gribble, just not THE Gribble. Regardless of his abounding confidence, he represents all that is pure and innocent. In short, he is the holder of life’s most basic truths. Who wouldn’t want such a wonderful gribble overseeing a blog with such great precision and dry humor? (If you said you wouldn’t, you are free to leave the site and keep your opinions to yourself. Unless you have a change of heart and decide to admit you were wrong. Even gribbles have standards.)
